About This Spot

Stepping into MASH Restaurante feels like finding a quiet corner where Arequipa’s culinary heritage comes alive with a gentle, thoughtful touch. This Peruvian gem, tucked away on C. Bolivar, invites you to slow down and savor both atmosphere and flavors in an unhurried rhythm. The setting is warm and intimate, with soft lighting and a calm pace that encourages genuine connection—whether you’re sharing a quiet meal for two or enjoying the friendly hum of a relaxed evening out.

The kitchen here honors tradition without being bound by it, crafting dishes that carry familiar warmth yet surprise in their balance and freshness. You might find yourself savoring a comforting, herb-laced pesto gnocchi that feels both unexpected and perfectly at home—a quiet reminder of the inviting care that colors the menu. Even the classic arequipeño flavors, like the famed rocoto relleno, come alive with subtlety, each bite reflecting the region’s stories and soul.

What lingers just as much as the food is the thoughtful, unobtrusive service that makes every guest feel truly seen. In the soft murmur of conversation and easy smiles, there’s a sense that MASH is less about flashy moments and more about crafting sincere ones—the kind that quietly stay with you long after the last bite.

Outside, the gentle bustle of the neighborhood filters in, offering a delicate contrast to the calm indoors, inviting guests to linger a little longer with good company or a well-crafted cocktail. It’s a place where local warmth and culinary craft meet to create a quietly memorable experience, a true find for those seeking a slice of Arequipa’s soul away from the crowd.

Everything about this place is sheer perfection - from the ambience, to the service and of course the food! Some dishes were a tad over-salted but overall, the food is world-class! Prices are very reasonable too especially if you're a guest at the hotel in which it's located (as a 15% discount is applied to the bill). What a pity that the restaurant isn't more well-known, but what a treat for guests of the hotel! The only issue is that the menu is somewhat limited, which reduces the potential for revisits.

We ordered two chicken salads with crouton and a cream of tomato soup (w/ grilled cheese). The food was amazing. Even though we didn’t order steak or beef dish, we were very happy with how well the our dishes were made and how fresh they were. We asked for less salt for our order and their kitchen honored it. The grilled cheese with focaccia bread was so comforting. It might have been one of the best grilled cheese I had… Even if you don’t want any heavy meat dish like we did, I still recommend this place for salads and soups. We did not feel sluggish after our meal and felt well nourished yet comforted.

Great food, a very nice location, setting and staff! Sadly the martini had an Italian vermouth instead of a French, aside from that the cocktails were very good!

Good food, especially the lamb! Very tender, falls right off the bone. The atmosphere outside was fantastic, and the staff were very friendly.

The dinner was amazing ! I came here to taste the famous rocoto relleno and it did not disapoint !! This traditional plate from Arequipa is a must try and you should do it here at Mash ! Ambiance was calm and I really loved my service by Shelby:) I trully recommend this place for a cute date night.

A really lovely restaurant serving traditional Peruvian food. I ordered the rocoto which was absolutely delicious! The waiters were also incredibly friendly and helpful, and special mention to Cheryl who was super attentive all evening. Would definitely recommend visiting!
